Ross River Solar Farm

Client: Downer Group

Value: $2.5 million

Date: August 2017 – August 2018

NLW Group managed logistics and warehousing for the entire Ross River Solar Farm project, and other solar farm work.

Initially, a crossdock solution was implemented for the Ross River Solar Farm – goods were shipped in or locally manufactured, containers were unpacked and stored at NLW, then delivered directly to site. NLW Group supported the client by responding ‘on the fly’ as the project demanded, including:

Securing approximately 20,000m2 short term storage when all goods were landed before site was ready to take delivery. 12 sites around Townsville were secured and used.

Delivering all products to site as required – no hold ups and no damaged stock.

Providing a last-minute solution, in a related project, to move large, costly and delicate inverters from Newcastle NSW to Numurkah VIC. This was delivered in full, on time with no damages or issues.

Kidston Solar Project $2.2M

Client: UGL

Value: $2.2 million

April 2017 – current

NLW Group managed the transport of all goods from Townsville port and local suppliers to the Kidston Solar Project Site – the initial project included shipping about 350 40’ containers some 350km inland. NLW also managed a weekly general goods delivery to site. This included everything from computer parts, site safety equipment and mechanical parts to a Coles shop for the weekly BBQ!

As a trusted partner, NLW’s involvement has grown to include further transport and warehousing solutions, including:

- Becoming the ‘hub’ for all general freight to be warehoused and transported to site.
- Responding quickly to numerous urgent requirements for prime movers, side loaders and an operator to be based on site whilst UGL machinery issues were resolved. In some cases, deployment was required for up to 9 weeks at a time.
- Organising subcontractors to perform duties such as site water deliveries and tilt tray deliveries.
- Relocating initial start-up equipment from Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra to the site.
- NLW Group warehousing staff undertaking training to complete UGL site inductions, reducing turnaround time for subcontractor deliveries.

Implementing and managing the total UGL Kidston recycling program, including:

- relocating about 300 40’ containers of recyclable material to Townsville, sorting and delivery to recycling facilities.
- providing a last-minute solution for all recycling and rubbish on site – a sizeable project including approximately 800 shipping containers worth of solar panel pallets and packaging.

We set up one of our sites as a ‘recycle hub’ - the returning empty shipping containers were filled with recycled goods and delivered to the NLW site before being returned to the port.

Nufarm Agricultural Chemicals

Client: Nufarm | Prological Logistics & Consulting

August 2015 - current

NLW Group responded with innovative solutions to Nufarm’s requirements for full 3^rd party logistics for warehousing and distribution in North Queensland and into the Northern Territory. NLW are Nufarm’s only outsourced regional logistics provider in Australia.

Specific client requirements include:

- Extensive handling of dangerous goods, managing all stakeholders’ compliance with safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Decreasing transport times from warehouse to end users, thereby improving delivery satisfaction and increasing sales.
- Warehouse procedural management including batch tracking of all product from receipt in store to clients.

Once the client relationship was well established, NLW was asked to take over all ‘free into store’ transport, making NLW the ‘one stop shop’ for all Nufarm logistics operations.
